Ecovillage:
A human-scale full-featured settlement in which human activities are
harmlessly integrated into the natural world in a way that is supportive
of healthy human development and can be successfully continued into the
indefinite future.
Economics:
The
words 'economics' and 'ecology' are both rooted in the Greek work 'oikos'
which means home. Ecology literally means understanding home and economics
means taking care of, or managing home. These two fields of human thought
have been separated from one another.
Ecovillage Economics is all about
putting the Eco back into Economics and the
Economics back into Eco

Our logo represents what
we see ecovillage economics as. The inside "e" represents economics
within the outside "e" which represents ecovillages. A
healthy relationship between these two e's are essential for all
sustainable developments to be sustained and to move forward.

ecovillage economics is the community, that is people. The inside "c"
represents community - a fundamental component of any
ecovillage. |

The environment is a third
component which provides us with guidance and an understanding of what
makes ecovillages and economics sustainable. The inside "e" also
represents the environment. |

It is impossible to
separate economics, community and the environment if we wish to
develop truly sustainable developments. Ecovillage economics works on
this important philosophy as a foundation to helping the global
ecovillage movement go forward. |
