Geraldton Ecovillage - Follow-Up Survey

This survey will take approximately 3 minutes to complete.....

Introduction

Hello Potential Ecovillage Dwellers,

Analysis of the ecovillage survey data indicated that a significant proportion of survey respondents have a preference for stand alone housing. In order to get a better understanding of this preference we request that you answer a few more short questions.

Thank you for your input.

2.0 Follow-Up Survey Questions

Why is a stand alone house more preferable to you than grouped dwellings?

Privacy Issues - Feel that stand alone housing assures privacy in terms of noise and view.

Space Issues - Would feel too confined in a dwelling with shared walls.

Aesthetic Issues - Don't like the appearance of grouped dwellings.

General comments:

3.0 Block Size

The majority of those who wanted stand alone housing also wanted blocks greater in size than 600sqm.

Given that a minimum of 20-30% of any given ecovillage would be community owned land, dedicated to activities of those who dwelt there, what size block would you require?

If you chose a block size in excess of 400sqm, please state your reason.

In relation to the Wells Street site as a potential ecovillage development, we envision an urban ecovillage with high densities allowing for greater efficiencies in energy production and waste systems and also affordability and access to this central land.  Blocks Larger than 400sqm on the Wells Street site would cost approximately 25% more per lot to produce.

If stand alone housing was not available on this site and blocks were no bigger than 400sqm would you consider living there?
