Peter Newman
Peter Newman

Peter Newman is Professor of City Policy at Murdoch University, He is founding director of the Institute of Sustainability and Technology Policy. 

He is Chair of the Western Australian Sustainability Roundtable advising the Premier on how to implement their Sustainability Strategy.

Peter was seconded to the Department of Premier and Cabinet as Director of the Sustainability Policy Unit from 2001-2003 during which time he oversaw the development and adoption of the Western Australian Sustainability Strategy.

He was awarded The Prime Ministers Centenary medal in 2003 for his contributions to Planning and Sustainability.

In 2004 Peter was made a Sustainability Commissioner in NSW.


Jill Jordan

 


Jill Jordan, who is no stranger to the co-operative movement, arrived in Maleny in the 1970s and transformed a Queensland town into Australia's most successful co-operative community.

Maleny has 18 co-operatives and a Credit Union, and Jill is credited with being their instigator and driving force. The economic boost to the area has been staggering with the credit union alone injecting over thirty million dollars into the area.


Jill now divides her time between Maleny and the rest of the Sunshine Coast hinterland where she conducts regular projects to help others develop their communities.
 

Max Lindegger

 

 

 

 


 


 

Max Lindegger is a designer of ecological communities and sustainable systems of international repute. He is a respected and sought-after teacher in the disciplines of sustainable systems. His reputation is born of 20 years of hands on experience and leadership in the design and implementation of practical, workable solutions to the challenges of sustainability.

As the creator and Director of the Oceania/Asia secretariat of the Global Eco-village Network, Max participates in and contributes to the international flow of current thinking and best practice in the fields of sustainable systems design and education.

Max was a primary partner in the design and development of the Habitat Award winning Crystal Waters Permaculture village. This is a robust and nascent eco-village situated in south-east Queensland, and is the site of the EcoCentre learning facility and the venue for many of his courses. He has designed and consulted on numerous community developments including the Spiers Project (S. Africa), Gqnubie Green (S. Africa), Living & Learning Centre (Sri Lanka), Vatukarasa Village (Fiji), and Garopaba Project (Brazil). As a Director of EcoLogical Solutions Ltd. he continues to pursue a vigorous design role.

Max is the author or co-author of publications such as The Best of Permaculture (Nascimanere) and a frequent contributor to journals such as Simply Living, and the International Permaculture Journal. He lives with his wife Trudi at Crystal Waters.

Max was awarded the Australian Prime Minister's Centenary Medal for distinguished achievement in the field of developing sustainable communities.
